Crete Secures €100M+ in EU Funding for Regional Development

Friday, 15 May 2026/Flashnews/1
Crete's regional governor Arnaoutakis announced that more than 100 million euros has been allocated for Integrated Territorial Investments across the island under the Crete 2021-2027 EU funding program. The announcement came during the second meeting of the Regional Spatial Partnership Committee, held in Heraklion. These investments target specific geographic areas of Crete and are designed to support local development through coordinated funding across infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and community services. While the direct impact on visitors is gradual, the program aims to improve facilities and services in both urban centers and rural areas over the coming years. Tourists can expect ongoing development activity in certain parts of the island, particularly in areas benefiting from designated investment zones. Heraklion remains the administrative hub coordinating these regional programs.
