A rescue operation was carried out in the Imbros Gorge (Farangi Imbrou) after a woman sustained injuries while hiking the trail. Emergency services were deployed to reach and evacuate the injured hiker from the gorge. The Imbros Gorge, located in the Sfakia region of southwestern Crete near the village of Imbros, is one of the island's most popular hiking routes and a common alternative to the Samaria Gorge. The trail runs approximately 8 kilometers and is generally accessible to moderately fit hikers, but rocky and uneven terrain can pose risks, particularly in summer heat. Tourists planning to hike the Imbros Gorge are advised to wear sturdy footwear, carry sufficient water, and start early in the morning to avoid peak afternoon temperatures. Inform someone of your plans before entering the gorge and carry a charged mobile phone.
