Gavdos is the southernmost point of Europe and is accessible by ferry from the southern Cretan ports of Paleochora and Sfakia. Earthquakes are common in this seismically active region of the Mediterranean, and tremors of this size can occasionally be felt on the southern coast of Crete. No damage or injuries have been reported at this time. Tourists currently on Gavdos or planning to visit should monitor local ferry schedules, as services may be temporarily affected following seismic activity. Visitors staying in southern Crete near Hora Sfakion or Paleochora may have felt light shaking. Authorities are monitoring the situation and no tsunami warning has been issued.
