Both events were centered off the southern coast, in a seismically active zone of the eastern Mediterranean. Tremors were reported felt in several parts of Crete, particularly in southern areas. No significant damage or injuries have been reported at this time. Earthquakes of this scale are relatively common in the region and typically do not pose a serious threat to visitors.
