A series of earthquakes struck the area near Kasos, a small island southeast of Crete, on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The largest tremor reached 4.4 magnitude, followed by additional shocks including a 3.6 magnitude event. Kasos lies roughly 100 kilometers from the eastern tip of Crete.
