Back to newsGreece's Social Tourism 2026 program is entering its final stage, with official results expected to be announced shortly. The program, run by the Greek government, provides eligible low-income residents with vouchers for free or heavily subsidized stays at registered hotels and guesthouses across the country, including properties in Crete.
Participating accommodations receive guests through a centralized allocation system, which can affect room availability at certain hotels during the program period, typically running through the summer and early autumn months. Tourists booking independent stays should be aware that some properties may have reduced availability as a result.
If you are planning a trip to Crete and have a specific hotel in mind, booking in advance is advisable. The program does not apply to foreign visitors and cannot be used by tourists traveling from outside Greece.
