Crete Village Installs Beach Wheelchair for Disabled Visitors

Volunteers in Palaikastro, a coastal village in eastern Crete, have built and installed a beach wheelchair to allow visitors with mobility impairments to access the sea. The community-led initiative was organized by local resident Giannis Flouris, who coordinated the effort without institutional support. The wheelchair is now available at the local beach, giving people with disabilities the ability to reach the water independently. Palaikastro is located near Vai beach and the ancient Minoan site of Petras, making it a popular stop for tourists exploring the Lasithi region.
