Mountain Trails Complete at Crete's Lassithi Plateau

Tuesday, 30 June 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
Work on mountain and hiking trails across the Lassithi Plateau has been completed, according to a recent report by Cretalive. The Lassithi Plateau, located in eastern Crete at an elevation of around 840 metres, is one of the island's most scenic inland destinations, known for its traditional windmills, fertile plains, and access to the Dikteon Cave. The newly improved trails are suitable for both hikers and mountain enthusiasts exploring the area. Visitors planning a trip to the plateau can now expect better-maintained paths, making walking and trekking safer and more accessible. The plateau is reachable by car from Heraklion in approximately one hour. Comfortable walking shoes and water are recommended, as some routes cover significant elevation changes across the surrounding mountain terrain.
