An agreement has been signed to supply 5.8 million cubic meters of water from the Aposelemis Dam to Eastern Crete through May 2027. The Aposelemis Dam, located in the Heraklion regional unit, is one of the island's primary water reservoirs and plays a key role in meeting demand across central and eastern parts of Crete. This deal helps secure stable water supply for the region during the agreement period, which covers multiple tourist seasons. For visitors, this means hotels, resorts, and rental properties in Eastern Crete, including popular destinations such as Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, and Sitia, should continue to have reliable water access. No disruptions to tourist services are anticipated as a result of this agreement.
