The initiative, known in the travel industry as a "fam trip," brought agents from Austria to experience the island firsthand, with the goal of deepening their knowledge of Crete as a destination and improving the quality of travel packages they offer to Austrian clients. Grecotel, one of Greece's largest hotel groups with several properties across Crete, hosted the agents at its resorts. TUI, a major European tour operator, coordinated the program. For tourists, this kind of industry collaboration typically leads to better-informed booking advice and more tailored holiday packages from Austrian agencies. Crete remains one of the most popular destinations for central European travelers, particularly during the summer season.
