BOAK Highway Closure Friday for Emergency Geotechnical Work

On Friday, May 22, traffic on the BOAK highway will be interrupted near the Neapoli to Agios Nikolaos section, at kilometer marker 8+300. The closure is due to emergency geotechnical conditions arising from ongoing excavation works in that area. Drivers traveling between Neapoli and Agios Nikolaos should expect detours or delays. If you are planning to travel along the northern coast road toward Lasithi prefecture on Friday, allow extra time or check local traffic updates before setting out. Alternative inland routes may be available but will add to journey time. The disruption is temporary and linked to construction work on the BOAK corridor, which is a major infrastructure project connecting eastern and western Crete.
