Crete Heats Up: First 30-Degree Days Bring 28°C Highs and Sunshine

Monday, 25 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Temperatures across Crete are rising this week, with forecasters predicting the first 30-degree days of the season. The Greek mainland is expected to reach up to 32°C, while islands including Crete will see highs around 28°C. Conditions will be mostly sunny with light winds, marking a significant warm-up compared to recent weeks. For tourists visiting Crete, this means beach and outdoor conditions will be excellent, but sun protection is essential. Visitors should carry water, apply high-SPF sunscreen, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity between 12:00 and 16:00 when heat peaks. Lightweight clothing and a hat are strongly recommended, particularly for those planning to visit archaeological sites such as Knossos or hike gorges like Samaria. Hydration stations are available at most tourist sites. Check local forecasts daily, as temperatures may continue climbing through the coming days.
