Crete's Fuel Prices Hit Two-Month Low as Global Markets Ease

Monday, 15 June 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Fuel prices in Heraklion remain among the highest in Greece, with unleaded petrol currently at 2.058 euros per litre. The Dodecanese islands are slightly more expensive at 2.091 euros per litre. Prices have dipped to a two-month low, and further decreases are expected in the coming weeks as global oil markets ease. For tourists renting a car in Crete, this means budgeting roughly 2.06 euros per litre for petrol. Filling a standard rental car (50-litre tank) will cost around 100 euros. If you are planning a road trip across the island, factor in higher fuel costs compared to mainland Greece. Prices may drop modestly before peak summer, but significant relief is unlikely before August.
