Hailstorm Hits Kalos Limenes in South Crete, Damages Multiple Villages

Saturday, 23 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
A hailstorm struck the Faistos municipality in southern Crete yesterday, causing damage in the Kalos Limenes area (also known as Fair Havens). The affected villages include Karavovrisi, Chrysostomos, Plateia, and Perama. Civil Protection services responded immediately to address the situation. Kalos Limenes is a coastal area on the south coast of Crete, known for its historical connection to the Apostle Paul's voyage. Tourists planning to visit this part of the Messara region should check local road conditions before traveling, as hail events can leave debris on roads and cause temporary access issues. No injuries have been reported. Weather in southern Crete can change quickly, especially in spring, so visitors are advised to monitor forecasts when exploring inland and coastal routes in the Faistos area.
