Tripiti Hole above Avdou

At the north slopes of Louloudaki mount, near Avdou , there is the abandoned monastery of Agia Anna, reached by a bad dirt track from Avdou village. There are two trails starting from Agia Anna .

The one, the most popular, leads to the stunning cave of Agia Fotini , while there is another one that leads to the area called Tripiti . At Tripiti, you'll meet an imposing passage, an open cave, with 200m high cliffs and amazing views to Langada and Mesada areas.

According to tradition, once the Turks stole the legendary icon of the Virgin Mary from Kera monastery , but the icon used to return miraculously every time. Once, the icon flew hill and crashed to the mount, forming this cave.
