Amourgelles Dam Lake

Amourgelles dam is situated at an altitude of 300m, 30km south of Heraklion and 1km south of the village Amourgelles . It spans an area of 150 acres and is one of the major dams in the region of Arkalochori .

The lake is surrounded by dense groves and the views of the surrounding hills are very nice. Around the lake there are placed benches, bird observatories and kiosks.

From the very first moment of its construction, the dam of Amourgelles hosts dozens of species of birds, especially in autumn and spring.
