The beach of Agios Antonios (Saint Anthony) is located in a quiet bay, 2.5km east of Sougia and 68km west of Chania city , in one of the most remote places on Crete. The surrounding area is called Charéi, thus you might hear many locals calling that like this.

Agios Antonios shores are covered mainly with rocks and pebbles, while there are many pine trees around. It is suitable for naturism, camping, fishing and snorkelling.

There are no facilities in the area, just sun, trees and sea! The beach can be accessed by boat from Sougia harbor.

Alternatively, you can walk for 2 hours along the amazing E4 hiking trail, that leads from Sougia to Agia Roumeli . The route is magnificent, with alternating rocky coves, pine trees, wild mountains and steep cliffs.

The beach is named after the picturesque chapel of St. Anthony , built in a lush green cove.

The chapel celebrates every year, on July 1-2, when a festival takes place on the beach. If you're there you should join the visitors, that arrive mainly by boats and sleep outdoors.
